Coach A.J. De Leon

As a coach, I work with all ages and levels across the board, which include private settings as well as managing small and large group clinics. I consider my  teaching style as holistic, which emphasizes on the mind, body and spirit of the sport. I’m inspired to continue growing the sport I love by creating sport lifestyles for the community that enjoy the process of reaching one's full potential as an athlete, performer and person, on and off the tennis court.

Born and raised in Cerritos California,  I began playing tennis at the age of 4, who then went on to be a top 10 ranked junior sectionally and nationally, NCAA DIV I college player at Pepperdine University and also had a brief professional career on the ITF/ATP circuit. Currently, I hold certifications as an ITF (International Tennis Federation) High Performance level 3 Certified coach the highest accreditation level and PTR (Professional Tennis Registry) Level 3 Performance Specialist Certification as well.

I have been coaching since 1999 and have also developed many Southern California junior’s develop into NCAA Division I-III players & have made it my life’s mission to continue this work as a coach providing pathways into college universities and/or career management onto the professional tour. One of my most favored accomplishments as a professional coach was in the Philippines where I worked as a private national coach for Philippine Tennis Academy, a non-profit organization for underprivileged but highly talented student athletes. The academy respectively produces the best talent in the country, including the Davis Cup and Fed Cup National Team and Jr. Davis Cup and Fed Cup National Teams. These players competed at the highest levels throughout Asia and became Scholar Athletes for Division I US colleges.
